Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide expert medical treatment, rehabilitation, and safe release for sick and injured hedgehogs, promoting their welfare and supporting the conservation of this protected native species. Through professional care and public engagement, we aim to give every hedgehog in need the best possible chance of recovery and return to the wild.

Who We Are
Our Hedgehog Hospital began in October of 1993 by Frank and Veronica Tett as a dedicated facility specialising in the treatment and rehabilitation of hedgehogs. Led by experienced professionals and supported by trained volunteers, the hospital provides specialist care for casualties brought in by members of the public, wildlife organisations, and local authorities.
What We Do
We operate daily from 09:00 to 17:30, closing at 12:30 on Sundays, offering medical assessment, emergency care, and ongoing rehabilitation. Our team also provides guidance and advice to members of the public who encounter hedgehogs in distress, helping ensure these animals receive appropriate and timely support.
Community and Support
As a charitable organisation, the hospital relies on public generosity to continue its work. Donations contribute directly to the cost of food, medical supplies, and facility maintenance, enabling us to deliver the highest standards of care. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of individuals and community groups who share our commitment to hedgehog welfare.
Our Commitment
Our Hedgehog Hospital is recognised for its professionalism, compassion, and dedication to the protection of hedgehogs. Every animal we treat reflects our ongoing commitment to wildlife welfare, scientific best practice, and the preservation of biodiversity within our local environment.
Our Values and Governance
We are guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and compassion. All decisions are made in the best interest of animal welfare and in accordance with relevant veterinary and conservation standards. Our trustees and management team oversee the responsible use of charitable funds, ensuring every contribution supports direct animal care, education, and community outreach.
We are committed to promoting awareness of hedgehog conservation through public education and collaboration with local and national wildlife initiatives.
